The course covers the pedagogy and educational issues in science that are fundamental to teaching and learning at the middle school level. Pedagogical topics explored include learning-teaching styles, classroom organization and management, safety and equipment concerns, experimentation, lesson planning and execution, assessment and evaluation, and standards-based programs. Educational issues related to science teaching that will be explored include alternative conceptions and conceptual change theories. Prerequisite: Entry into Sequence 3 program.
