MSW Social Work Practice with Children with Disabilities
Department(s)
Description
Second of four courses in the Social Work Practice with People with Disabilities concentration. There is an advanced practice course on children that addresses human variances referred to as "disabilities" within the context of social service agencies and legislation. The social construction model utilized in this course asserts that disability is not inherent in the individual as a deficit, but rather, is often a set of physical and social barriers that can constrain people. This course is designed to promote inclusive policies and practices for children with disabilities. The intersectionality of disability and other diversity factors will be explored critically.Prerequisite: Admission to the MSW program
