Description

5 Hours; 5 Credits. This first primary care course emphasizes health promotion, health protection, and health restoration for the adult-gerontological population. Students will be introduced to the practical aspects of the advanced practice role and inherent responsibilities. Students will implement the partnership model of working with consumers as they begin to formulate differential diagnoses and create treatment plans using evidence-based guidelines and best practices. Social, cultural, ethical, and policy issues confronting those who need care are explored. This course requires 200-250 clinical hours with an approved preceptor. Prerequisite: BIO 670, NRS 682/BIO 682, NRS 700, 701, 702, 705, 706, 730.
