Description
This course is designed to provide teacher candidates with an in-depth exploration of specific literacy issues that are relevant to literacy instruction, acquisition, and participant inquiry. Some examples of such relevant topics would be: vocabulary instruction and acquisition, multimodality, comprehension in the age of new literacies, functional literacy in digital times, literacy and music, literacy and art, etc. Expert scholars and educators from the education department will teach the topic course depending on their expertise. Prerequisite Matriculation in Sequence I of the Graduate Elementary Education Program or EDE 602 or equivalent.
